We are sorry to say that Weebly has not been accessible the last few days that we have tried to post the blog!
To summarize: On Friday, a leprechaun visited our classroom and seemingly made a mess of everything. In addition to that, the students were able to try out some programming with the Ozobots which are programmed with colors. They were then challenged to try and reach a pot of gold/finish line and pass some clovers on the way. The students also spent some time completing research and they used 15 minutes of earned time to explore educational sites. We spent a good portion of the day yesterday on presentations. We also had a class meeting around respecting everyone's learning needs. Additionally, we had a circle, read The Hobbit and spend time time working in our journals. Congratulations to Austin who is our student of the week!

Fun lunch next Wednesday :) Homework: Read for 20-30 minutes Today we started the day with some buddy reading before going to Phys. Ed. where we played octopus and then rallied with a partner as a part of Badminton. Then we played a game of bench dodgeball, boys vs. girls, where the boys won. Next, we had presentations; the first person to present today was Rhiannon. We also heard from Maryn (this morning) and Wyatt M. in the afternoon. After recess, we worked in small groups to finish up our portraits and have started to use pastels to color them. Next we will go back to our study of the Mona Lisa to observe the background before starting our own. After lunch, we had silent reading and a presentation before going to music. In music, we played recorders, and practiced Mary Had a Little Lamb and Hot Crossed Buns. Then we had library, where we heard the real story of Winnie the Pooh and signed out books. Then we had buddies where we worked on our buddy stories. By Rhiannon and Zayne. FYI: Walking trip to Fish Creek tomorrow at 10am. Presentations for our genealogy/ancestry projects started today! If your son/daughter has not completed this project, please ensure they are ready to present any day this week. This project was sent home on Feb. 10th so it is important that they are accountable for their learning :) Fish Creek walk on Wednesday, March 15th from 10-12pm We started our morning with the math problem "One Grain of Rice" for those that were not finished. Next, we had PE where we started our badminton unit! We rallied with a partner and then played bench dodgeball where we continued our "boys vs girls" game...guess who was victorious?! :) As our phys. ed. was slightly extended (due to the netting being a bit tangled) we were only able to read some of The Hobbit and have a classroom discussion while having a snack before recess. After recess, we finished our science presentations on the computer and worked on our social research. The bell rang, but Ms. Parent forgot to change her clocks and did not realize it was already lunch ;) After lunch, we had silent reading before having our first presentation before we went to music. Congratulations to Emerson, Bridget and Alexis who had incredible presentations to start us off this week! Have a wonderful night everyone! Next we read a part of a math folktale called One Grain of Rice. After we read a part of it, we worked on a math problem to figure out how many grains of rice you would have in 30 days if you received double the amount from the day before. We are finding out that Rani had thought out her reward quite well :) Ask me how I am solving the problem. Afterwards we took a vote on how to spend our last 20 minutes: working on our art portraits or watching a few minutes of Bill Nye: Light and Color. Ask me how our vote turned out! Have a great weekend everyone! Go Flames Go!! FYI:

Glenbow (March 9th) field trip forms need to be brought in please :) Homework: Parents, we have been solving math riddles in the morning. Do you think you have what it takes to solve one of our riddles?? Crazy 8s: How can you add eight 8's to get the number 1,000? (only use addition) The MerchantA merchant can place 8 large boxes or 10 small boxes into a carton for shipping. In one shipment, he sent a total of 96 boxes. If there are more large boxes than small boxes, how many cartons did he ship? We started our morning with a math problem where we had to find out how many cartons were shipped using either 8 large boxes or 10 small boxes in each carton. We also knew that we had to have more large box cartons then small box cartons. Next, we had gym where we played our first day of tennis. The first thing we did was rally the ball against the wall and then we had a partner and passed the ball back and forth across the nets. After gym, we read the hobbit and had a snack before we finished up our math problem. After recess, we had computers. We started with Dance Mat then spent a few minutes on Duolingo before we started to work on our science presentations that we will be sharing with Ms. Lauf's class. After lunch, we did silent reading before music. In music, we played the B note with our recorders in a song. Next, some grade 3/4s started an addition/subtraction math hunt while others worked on tasks cards with Ms. Parent. Blog was typed by Ms. Parent, but created by Rhiannon :) |
