What an incredible gift it was to have her share her knowledge of traditional dance, First Nation experiences and artifacts. We were able to learn and say some words in Blackfoot and even sign a song in Blackfoot. It was an honor to have her with us today to share her knowledge. We read a couple of chapters from our novel study and thought about whether Ivan has a good quality of life when it comes to his diet and domain. We had a circle to say goodbye to Mrs. Smith- we were very lucky to have her over the past 11 weeks. We read a book with some information about Peru We worked through 3 science centers and had our regular PE class on top of some extra time in the morning! Important Dates: Nov. 29th: Shirley Hill in with grade 3's Dec. 5th: Book Club Dec. 19th: Carolling (pm) Dec. 19th: Teacher's Pet (Tunisia) 12:30-2:30 Highlights from our day: We had science centers to start our day after morning work (rating our goals and having a bit of time for "not done" work) We had music and Mrs. Dennill said so many of us are taking risks in our learning! We finished up our second science center before recess and then read a book called One Grain of Rice which is a mathematical folktale. This led into a discussion about doubling and addition strategies. Some students really must have worked hard in grade two because they remembered a couple of great strategies that we could think about. We went into Ms. England's class where the students started working on gluing the feathers on their tinfoil birds. We did this until lunch and then had a HUGE classroom cleanup After lunch we had a bit of quiet reading time before meeting with the other grade three classes to talk about some expectations when we meet with Ms. Shirley tomorrow. During our discussion, we came up with lots of possible questions we could ask Ms. Shirley as well :) Ms. Parent and Ms. England's class spent the remainder of the day working on our art projects to finish them up. Clean up took a long time so Ms. Parent's class will have some extra PE time outside tomorrow. Ah! After checking for blog comments- I noticed our last two blog days did not post! I will post highlights from the last three days in this blog.
