FYI
Pictures went home today- please return by May 3rd if you would like to order! Fun lunch this Wednesday (Chachi's) This morning, we started our day by working in our sketchbooks and drawing or writing about different things that remind us of Canada or being Canadian! Next, we went to P.E. and worked on some skipping skills and then played a game of ringette as it was one of the 150 participaction activities that was not completed on our school board. Then we went out to the bulletin board that was put up by the parent council members to examine some of the different Canadian symbols. Afterwards, we got into our science groups and went to our first station to become experts and share what we learned about that station (how to) with the class. After recess, we continued in our science centers; first presenting what we learned about the expectations of the center and then worked in the center. After lunch, we watched a short video called 3 things for Canada which was put put on by our own mayor!! Feel free to share the video with your family :) www.threethingsforcanada.ca/ We used this to launch us into thinking about what we can do as grade 3/4 students. Some of us put ideas up on the bulletin board. Next, we had an assembly put on by the grade 2s where they shared how much money was raised by Prince of Wales and which option that students voted on for how the money would be spent. Then we had music. In music we practiced our Music Monday song and practiced our recorders. Next, we had two students who did a "girls awareness in sport" presentation based on some feelings some girls have had with not feeling an equal space with the boys in gym. It was very respectful and students had lots of great insight. We finished the day with The Hobbit and some work in our visual journals. Typed by Ms. Parent, dictated by Rhiannon and Ms. Parent :)

Ask me what I think it could be, what it's value is or what it might be used for? We finished our day with our time earned class party!! Have a great weekend everyone! FYI:
Tomorrow we will be using our earned time (45 minutes) and as a class we have decided that we would like to bring in our personal devices (ipod, DS etc) or a special toy (dolls etc.) that they can play with. In addition, students are able to wear their pj's and bring a stuffy for the day! * Monday will be a red and white day * Tomorrow is the last day to bring in money to donate toward the Kugaaruk school (assembly will be on Monday) * Fun lunch on April on April 26th and May 10th We started our day with Phys. Fun lunch May 10th Scientist in the classroom: May 12th Highlights of our first two days since the break! Kallie is student of the week this week! She has shown great friendship skills and has taken initiative in the classroom with her work. We started our skipping unit in phys. ed. this week! We watched a couple of pretty cool videos to spark some interest (ask me about them!) and then practiced a few basic skills before trying out some double dutch! We have continued our work with the hearing and sound centers this week- ask me something I have learned from these great experiences! In computers this week, we have been practicing some different operations (addition, subtraction and multiplication) on 10 monkeys, in addition to working on some social research and typing our stories :) We had literacy centers today and started our first power hour class yesterday! We had a sharing circle about power hour and everyone seems to be enjoying their new session! Did Ms. Parent forget anything? Make sure you let your parents know :) FYI:

After lunch, we had DEAR time and then worked on our writing assignment before going into our literacy block. Finally, we went outside for gym! Yay for the nice weather :) FYI:

Afterwards, we got to log into 10monkeys for math. There is a HUGE competition going on with this math website and we are one class in our school that is participating. After lunch, we went over the power hour options for the next session coming up. Some students continued while they listened. Most of us filled out our power hour forms but some of us took them home to fill out. They are due on Friday.
