We know you are all excited to hear all about the week at City Hall School- but we are in the process of brainstorming and will share our thoughts this week...please stay tuned!
Today we... Reflected on day one of City Hall School :) We created an adventure map in our journals after having a classroom discussion where we all shared something we did or something that stood out to us! In order to help us create a map that shared the adventures and the learning- we did a walk to view other student work and to seek feedback about our own adventure maps. We talked about story beginnings and why it is important to consider the person reading your story as you begin to write. We talked about 4 different strategies for starting stories: sound, dialogue, thoughts or worries...and I know there was one more...who can tell your parents what it was?? Next we went on a scavenger hunt to find how different authors have started stories! We were then challenged to write a short story beginning for all four strategies (2-3 sentences) We had a circle :) We had some DEAR time. Afterwards, we used what we had learned to write a story beginning inspired from one event at City Hall (day one). Next, we partnered up and shared our story with our partner- again, seeking feedback that helps move our learning forward. In PE- as we have the gym to ourselves, we are going to have a week of intramurals!! Today we played soccer :) Afterwards, we logged into our 10monkeys accounts (mathematics challenge) but there are no home hours and we learned that it isn't available after 2pm (weird right?!) so we played some demo questions with addition, subtraction and multiplication.
