Book orders are due this Friday :)
We need recycled materials to make instruments for our hearing and sound unit! Some commonly used items include: cereal boxes, kleenex boxes, pringles tubes (we need these for rain sticks as well!), egg cartons, plastic yogurt containers, solo cups...essentially we need hollow items! As well, we need elastics! Important Dates: Jan. 15th- Conference bookings open Jan. 25th- Hearing and Sound presentation Jan. 25th- Parent/Teacher conferences (330-730pm) Jan. 26th- Parent/Teacher conferences (no school) Jan. 31st- Fun lunch (Edo) Highlights from our day: We started our day on computers! We had some time to work on independent google slides before moving into our social research centers. We looked at an example of student work that allowed us to, again, become familiar with the expectations of grade 3 and for students to start thinking about ways they can improve the ways they communicate their ideas. Students looked into the foods and arts in Peru with their time today. After recess, we had snack and listened to a few pages of Harry Potter while cutting out shapes for our visual journal pages. We talked about the importance of using our resources wisely and how we can trace shapes using most of the paper. We looked at multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 in math today and then we started thinking like mathematicians as we investigated why big numbers are important. We interviewed students in our class as well as in Ms. England's class! Ask me about some of the ideas I heard today! We had a quick meeting about transition times and the importance of acting in an expected way. We had PE and some of us showed some of the routines we have been working on We cleaned up our class and then watched about 10 minutes of a hearing and sound video.
