FYI:
Peruvian Artifacts - We are currently studying the country of Peru. If you have any artifacts related to this unit of study that you would be willing to lend to our classroom it would be greatly appreciated. Artifacts could include pictures, dishes, art, paintings, sculptures, toys, books, clothing, tools, jewelry, etc… Students will sketch these artifacts, try to determine what they were used for, as well as how they are similar/different from artifacts here in Canada. Please send items to school with your child with a brief written explanation. It would be helpful if you did not explain details of the artifact to your child, as they will be taking part in the sketching, observation, and inquiry process of the artifact with their classmates. We promise to take extra special care of your personal items! School Pictures – Picture orders due on or before October 4. Milk Forms- Due on Friday!! (Sept. 29th) Orange Shirt Assembly – Friday 8:30 – 8:50 am. We as a Grade 3 Group are responsible for leading this assembly. Everyone is welcome. Important Dates: September 28: Fish Creek Walk September 29: Orange Shirt Day October 6: Terry Fox Run Highlights: -We started our day in music class :) -In Social, we started to design a planet in small groups. Students reviewed some various items provided by mission control and were invited to create 4 other items they wished to take with them. Mission control then sent them a message stating they had less room than anticipated in the spaceship thus they had to reduce their list by 6... We will continue this tomorrow -We talked about what an adventure map is and Ms. Parent created a rough sketch of what it looked like (we will be creating a practice one tomorrow morning with a story from Ms. Lauf) -We had library! -In gym, we played capture the chicken and wax museum -We met with Ms. Lauf and Ms. England's classes and read a story called "Not My Girl" which was a continuation of the story we read yesterday. We had a great group discussion and students were very insightful with their answers. -We worked on our reflection questions and created new orange shirts which will be our scripts for the assembly. -We added some pictures to our visual journal covers Some quotes from the day are: "I really liked playing capture the chicken today" "I thought the story was very touching today" "It was sad that the girl's mom didn't know who she was because they cut her hair and she was so thin because they weren't feeding her enough nutritious foods" "I liked playing wax museum" "Our planet has zombies on it and if I fall to the wrong side it wouldn't be good" "I like our classroom and all of the kids in it" For a comment today, please answer the following question: If Ms. Parent bought 12 boxes of crayons and ten of the boxes had 10 crayons in them while the other two had 12 crayons in them, how many crayons would there be all together?
